THE MONA LISA IS NOW A ZERO NET CARBON ARTWORK!

Zero Net Carbon Emission status (sometimes called “Carbon Neutral” or “Carbon Offset”) for the Mona Lisa was achieved by calculating methane production from horse usage, and carbon dioxide from material preparations totaling an estimated 3.55 Metric Tonnes of CO2 – this was then offset by Carbon Credits purchased on 9/17/09 from Carbonfund.org a cost of $35.50.

Why the Mona Lisa?
It is one of my favorite works of art, and anything I value this much should be made green.

ALL JOHN SABRAW’S ARTWORK IS ZERO NET CARBON EMISSIONS!

All 250+ exhibited works of art since my first professional exhibition in 1994 have been made zero net carbon emissions when I purchased, on Sept. 17, 2009, 12.218 Metric Tonnes of offset credits from Carbonfund.org for $122.18.

This will be done for all future works as well.

Congratulations to all those who are in possession of my works, as well as a big thank you for your patronage.

HOW CAN WE ACHIEVE GREEN ART?

1.    By using and sharing sustainable practices in creating new works of art.
2.    By calculating the carbon footprint for each work & purchasing carbon credits to offset it.
3.    By getting others to join in this effort.
4.    By visiting zeronetart.com because:

I will be working to make it as easy as possible for artists and art lovers to make their work zero net carbon emissions by posting calculations and calculators that I have used and/or created. To do this I will be consulting engineers, environmental specialists, art specialists, manufacturers, and others to get the most accurate information, just as I did for the Mona Lisa.

LET’S MAKE ALL ART OBJECTS AND ENDEAVORS ZERO NET CARBON EMISSION

I encourage artists and others to make zero net carbon emission their own works of art, and/or those in their collection, as well as works of art they just love.

Own your GREEN CONSCIOUSNESS (and green conscience). Post on my blog what you have made green, how you did it, your ideas, plus comments on other’s postings.
